Seattle Children’s is building a $103 million ASC in Federal Way, Wash., adding three pediatric operating rooms to its South Sound region, The Daily Journal of Commerce reported Aug. 14.
The Seattle-based pediatric health system filed a certificate of need with the Washington State Department of Health for the project, which will connect to its existing outpatient clinic at 34920 Enchanted Parkway S. The clinic occupies a 37,000-square-foot building that Seattle Children’s converted from a former Circuit City store about a decade ago, according to the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce, which first reported the expansion.
The new center will handle surgical and procedural cases across 12 specialties, including craniofacial, dermatology, ENT, gastroenterology, general surgery, neurology, ophthalmology, oral surgery, orthopedics and sports medicine, rehabilitation medicine, rheumatology, and urology. Dr. Burt Yaszay will serve as medical director of surgical services, and Dr. Sean Flack will lead anesthesia services. Mark Salierno, Seattle Children’s chief strategy and business development officer, is the project’s primary contact.
Design work wrapped in June 2025, and construction began that October. Seattle Children’s expects the facility to be ready for survey by September 2027 and fully complete by October 2027. ZGF Architects designed the project.
The Federal Way expansion adds surgical capacity outside Seattle Children’s main Seattle campus, extending pediatric specialty access across the Puget Sound region as demand for outpatient procedures grows.
