Ophthalmologist Dr. Thomas Prater Receives Community Award

Ophthalmologist and eye surgeon Thomas G. Prater, MD, was recently honored by the Springfield Chamber of Commerce and Springfield Business Journal for his contribution to healthcare in the Springfield, Mo., community, according to a news release.

 

Dr. Prater is a co-founder of Mattax Neu Prater Eye Center, which has five locations in Missouri, including Springfield.

 

The annual Salute to Health Care award ceremony took place Oct. 25. Dr. Prater was part of a group of allied healthcare professionals recognized for their contributions.

 

"There aren't many things that have a more positive impact on a person than restoring the good vision they need to stay active and engaged in all that life has to offer," Dr. Prater said in accepting the award, according to the release. "I feel privileged to be able to help."

 

Dr. Prater received his MD from Washington University in St. Louis and completed a residency in ophthalmology at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes Hospital. Dr. Prater has practiced in Springfield since 1987.
