CMS has approved Second Sight Medical Products’ Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System for a new technology add-on payment in inpatient care settings and for a transitional pass through payment for outpatient settings, as of Oct. 1.
The ICD-9-CM code for add-on payments under the Medicare Inpatient Prospective Payment System will be 14.81. The transitional pass through payment CPT code for hospital outpatient facilities and ASCs will be 0100T.
The payments are designed to increase Medicare beneficiaries’ access to technology.
