UPMC opens new specialty care clinic

Pittsburgh-based UPMC opened a new specialty care clinic in Lewisburg, Pa., according to a Nov. 11 report from The Daily Item.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Nov. 10, the report said.

This will be the third facility to open in the Lewisburg area this year, the report said. This clinic will have 12 clinicians for outpatient services including cardiology, gastroenterology, neurosurgery and pain management.

"We serve a lot of the Lewisburg area, and this will help people with the travel," David Lopatofsky, MD, CMO of UPMC's Susquehanna region, said in the report. "We can help provide a lot of their coverage for regular office care here, and if there's more extensive things to do, we can do those at Williamsport. It's our way of reaching out to communities that have already reached out to us."
