ASC developments to watch in California

Here are six California ASCs in development or that have opened their doors in 2024, as reported by Becker’s since Feb. 27:

1. UCSF’s new Bayfront Medical Center opened in San Francisco. The multispecialty center and its ASC are the largest of its kind in the area. 

2. Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente opened an ASC and medical office space in Lancaster.

3. UC San Diego Health is developing an outpatient medical center with an ASC in San Diego’s Rancho Bernardo neighborhood. The multispecialty facility is projected to open in 2026.

4. Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health is set to break ground on a $442 million ASC and medical office building project that is slated to open in 2028.

5. San Diego-based Palomar Health opened an ASC in partnership with Deerfield, Ill.-based ASC operator SCA Health in Escondido.

6. Surgery Ventures, Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare’s ASC business, opened the Silicon Valley Surgery Center in Campbell.
