Here are 10 ASC projects that were announced or completed in May, as reported by Becker’s:
1. Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health broke ground on a 100,000-square-foot ambulatory clinic in Cape Coral, Fla. The facility will provide surgical and interventional services and have four operating rooms, two catheterization labs, two EP labs and 28 recovery rooms.
2. Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Parkridge Health System, a subsidiary of HCA Healthcare, is continuing its plan for an outpatient surgical center in Chattanooga. The ASC was originally designed as a joint venture between Parkridge and Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Health. Erlanger previously planned to buy 49% of the center, but is no longer involved with the project.
3. Salina (Kansas) Regional Health is seeking local government approval to redevelop a zoning lot to construct a new ASC and medical clinic.
4. Phoenix-based Advanced Spine and Pain opened a 12,075-square-foot outpatient clinic and ASC.
5. Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health began construction on a pediatric surgery center and family medicine clinic expected to open in early 2028. The two-story, 60,000-square-foot facility will be located next to Golisano Children’s Hospital and HealthPark Medical Center. The first floor will house four pediatric operating rooms and two endoscopy suites.
6. Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health began construction on a new medical campus in Meridian, Colo. The campus will include a full-service hospital, an ASC and physician clinics. The project is being developed on a 42-acre site that CommonSpirit acquired in late 2024.
7. Pacific Sports and Spine opened a surgery center in Springfield, Ore., focused on treating acute and chronic pain tied to sports and spine injuries.
8. Traverse City, Mich.-based Munson Healthcare plans to open an ASC in Cadillac, Mich., over the next few months. The center will provide same-day surgical procedures and other outpatient care for patients in northern Michigan.
9. Lexington, Ky.-based Appalachian Regional Healthcare broke ground May 6 on a $54 million oncology and ambulatory center at Middlesboro (Ky.) ARH Hospital.
10. York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health is planning a new ASC and medical office building in Carlisle, Pa.
