The tablet is a sulfate-based preparation that’s an alternative to liquid solutions. Sebela developed the pill for patients who have had difficulty completing preparation solutions in the past.

In a clinical trial with 515 patients, 92 percent of patients achieved a successful level of bowel cleansing after taking Sutab, and 78 percent of patients said they’d take it again for a future colonoscopy.

In a second trial, 92 percent to 95 percent achieved successful cleansing in all segments of the colon.

Sutab will be available to patients on Jan. 1, 2021.
