Dr. Van Dam has a professional interest in precancerous conditions, including pancreatic cystic neoplasms, Barrett’s esophagus and colonic polyps. He also has expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy; advanced interventional endoscopy; endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography; endoscopic ultrasonography; and endoscopic laser surgery. He has been internationally recognized for his advances in the interventional endoscopy field.
Dr. Van Dam will also oversee the design and construction of two new endoscopy facilities at USC. One will be a new hospital-based facility and the other will be a large ambulatory facility.
Dr. Van Dam earned his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed his residency New England Deaconess Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston. He completed fellowship training in gastroenterology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School in Boston; and an advanced fellowship in interventional/therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
