GI physician leader to know: Dr. Elham Afghani of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center

Elham Afghani, MD, is assistant director of clinical pancreatology in the Pancreatic and Biliary Diseases Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She is a member of t he American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology and American Pancreatic Association.

Dr. Afghani focuses on acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cysts and pancreatic cancer. She has expertise in total pancreatectomy with autoislet transplantation. Her research focuses on aspects of pancreatology. She is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Afghani earned her medical degree and completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. She has completed advanced fellowships in gastroenterology and pancreatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore.
