Dr. Rex has a professional interest in colorectal polyps, colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal bleeding and Barrett’s esophagus. He has won numerous awards over the course of the career, including the Berk/Fise Award and William D. Carey Award from ACG. He received the Master Endoscopist Award from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy in 2003.
Dr. Rex co-authored the colorectal cancer screening recommendations of the ACG and the U.S. Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer. He also authored the recommendations on quality in colonoscopy of the U.S. Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer and the ACG/ASGE. He is an associate editor of NEJM Journal Watch Gastroenterology.
Dr. Rex earned his medical degree at Indiana University and completed his residency and fellowship at the Indiana University Medical Center, all based in Indianapolis.
