GI physician leader to know: Dr. Andrea Todisco of University of Michigan Health System

Andrea Todisco, MD, is a professor of internal medicine at the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor. He is board-certified internal medicine and gastroenterology. He has a professional interest in peptic ulcer disease, gastric acid secretion, hepatitis C, irritable bowel syndrome and capsule endoscopy.

Dr. Todisco’s research interest includes the investigation of the mechanisms that regulate epithelial cell growth and differentiation in the upper gastrointestinal tract. He has received the Funderburg Research Award in Gastric Biology Related to Cancer from the American Gastroenterological Association. His work has been published in a number of peer-reviewed publications such as Gastroenterology and Current Opinion in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Obesity.

Dr. Todisco earned his medical degree from University of Rome, completed his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and his fellowship in gastroenterology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
