GI leader to know: Dr. Joseph F. Hacker III of Gastroenterology Associates

Joseph F. Hacker III, MD, is a gastroenterologist and the president of Newark, Del.-based Gastroenterology Associates.

Dr. Hacker specializes gastroesophageal reflux disease, peptic ulcer disease and colon cancer among others.

His career began after he earned his medical degree from Philadelphia’s Hahnemann Medical College (now Drexel University). He completed his internship, residency and fellowship at the Bethesda, Md.-based Naval Hospital before he spent nine years in the Navy.

Dr. Hacker is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the National Board of Medical Examiners.

He is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.
