Gastroenterologist to know: Dr. David Piccoli of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia

David A. Piccoli, MD, is the chief of the gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition division at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He is also the director of the Fred and Suzanne Biesecker Pediatric Liver Center at CHOP.

Dr. Piccoli’s clinical interests include complex and chronic liver bowel disorders, intestinal bowel disease, metabolic and genetic liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and rare gastrointestinal disorders. He has authored more than 90 papers, 40 chapters, 130 research abstracts and edited four books on areas of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.

Dr. Piccoli earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston and completed his residency at Boston Children’s Hospital. He underwent his pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
