FDA approves ORBERA balloon for obesity treatment

ORBERA Intragastric Balloon, an Apollo Endosurgery device designed to treat obesity, has earned FDA approval.

The ORBERA is used to assist adult patients with a body mass index of 30 to 40 in weight loss and maintenance.

“While new to the United States, ORBERA is a weight loss device with more than 220,000 balloons distributed in over 80 countries and approximately 230 published papers documenting its clinical results,” said Todd Newton, CEO of Apollo Endosurgery.
