Nicklaus Children’s Hospital opens new pediatric ASC: 5 things to know

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital has inaugurated its new pediatric ASC, the first of its kind in the region, according to a Miami Herald report.

Here are five things to know:

1. The ASC is co-owned by a group of about 20 physicians and the main hospital.

2. The center employs about 30 physicians, most of whom are also employed at the hospital.

3. The center has the capacity to handle 3,000 to 4,000 cases per year.

4. The center is located on Florida International University’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus in Miami.

5. While FIU isn’t currently a partner in the ASC, the option for future collaboration exists, according Chad Perlyn, MD, the center’s medical director.
