Dental-only ASC to open in North Carolina — 4 insights

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services issued Fayetteville, N.C.-based Valleygate Dental Surgery Center a certificate of need March 1, clearing the group to open its new center in Greensboro, N.C., June 1, the Triad Business Journal reports.

Here’s what you should know.

1. The new center will only offer dental services. It will also have a pediatric clinic.

2. Valleygate operates three of the state’s four dental-only ASCs.

3. Valleygate and Surgical Center for Dental Professionals of Raleigh (N.C.) battled for the right to open the center. SCDPR was awarded a CON to open a center in Raleigh, while Valleygate was awarded the Greensboro site.

4. The center will be 10,000 square feet with a 3,000-square-foot pediatric clinic. The center will have two operating rooms, one procedure room and four treatment rooms.
