Connecticut's Hartford Healthcare Completes $28M Acquisition of Constitution Eye Surgery Center

Hartford (Conn.) Healthcare has completed its acquisition of Constitution Eye Surgery Center in Newington, Conn., according to a report from the Hartford Business Journal.

The transaction, which is valued at $28 million, was approved by the state Office of Health Care Access.

Hartford Hospital now has 100 percent ownership of the ambulatory surgery center, which currently has 30 physician-owners and performs about 11,000 surgeries annually, according to the report.

The surgery center will continue to receive some management from Constitution Surgery Centers, which has more than a dozen facilities in the Northeast and eight in Connecticut.

According to earlier reports, with the acquisition now completed, the ASC, the largest ophthalmic surgical services provider in the region, will now begin to offer retina surgeries and will have at least one of its four surgical suites retrofitted.
