City council extends tax incentive talks for Ohio State U's proposed medical center — 5 insights

The Dublin (Ohio) City Council and Columbus-based Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center are negotiating potential tax incentives for a proposed outpatient medical center, This Week Community News reports.

What you should know:

1. The city council sought to vote on the incentives April 8 but delayed the vote to negotiate further.

2. The city council is preparing terms for when OSU returns for its second reading April 22.

3. The city council had some concerns about limitations on what the city could develop on land surrounding the center.

4. OSU plans to create 350 jobs with the new center. The university would also pay a percentage toward public infrastructure improvements.

5. OSU expects to close on the land by May 2020, with potential occupancy between June 2022 and September 2022.
