Here are 15 major sales of ASCs, physician practices and clinics so far in 2025
1. IRA Capital, a private equity firm, acquired Houston Physicians’ Hospital in Webster, Texas. The 148,950-square-foot facility is a multi-specialty surgical hospital and outpatient campus leased through a joint venture between the physicians, Memorial Hermann Health System and United Surgical Partners International.
2. Winter Haven, Fla.-based Bond Clinic, a 90-provider physician group, has been acquired by AdventHealth. Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth purchased the group’s 28-specialty assets and care sites located throughout Polk County.
3. South Bend, Ind.-based Beacon Health System has acquired Ascension Southwest Michigan. Locally-owned, nonprofit Beacon signed a definitive agreement to acquire ASM’s four hospitals, 35 outpatient clinics and an ASC in early April. Ascension Southwest Michigan is a regional subsidiary of St. Louis-based Ascension.
4. St. Louis-based Ascension entered into a definitive agreement June 17 to acquire AmSurg, a move set to significantly scale its ASC presence across the U.S. AmSurg, headquartered in Nashville, Tenn., partners with around 2,000 physicians and operates 250 ASCs, making it the second-largest ASC chain nationally, trailing only Tenet’s United Surgical Partners International.
5. Grass Valley, Calif.-based Dignity Health Medical Group—Sierra Nevada, a service of Dignity Health Medical Foundation, has acquired Sierra Nevada Gastroenterology, also based in Grass Valley. The clinic will close June 9 and reopen June 16, rebranded as Dignity Health Medical Group—Sierra Nevada.
6. Private equity-backed Capitol Imaging expanded into Georgia with the acquisition of nine outpatient imaging centers. The nine centers were owned and operated by Peachtree City, Ga.-based Outpatient Imaging. OPI’s centers provide diagnostic services, including MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography and X-ray.
7. Wilmington, Del.-based ChristianaCare will acquire five outpatient centers from Upland, Pa.-based Crozer Health. The five centers are all located in Pennsylvania — two facilities in Glen Mills, one in Havertown, one in Broomall and one in Media. They were put up for auction after the planned closure of Crozer Health by parent company Prospect Medical Holdings.
8. Charlotte, N.C.-based OrthoCarolina, one of the nation’s largest independently owned orthopedic practices, sold its physical therapy business. The deal resulted in PT Solutions Physical Therapy partnering with Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health to acquire OrthoCarolina’s physical therapy practice for an undisclosed amount.
9. New York City-based NYU Langone Health and NYU Langone Orthopedics announced the acquisition of Rothman Orthopaedics of Greater New York, and in New York City, which expanded the system’s orthopedic care in the city.
10. Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt Health acquired Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville’s cardiology practice from Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health System.
11. Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood, Fla., added to its heart institute by acquiring a pediatric cardiology practice. In total, 14 pediatric cardiac physicians were added to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in the transaction.
12. Oak Lawn, Ill.-based EyeSouth Partners announced a partnership with the Retina Institute of Illinois in Niles, in March.
13. Greenville, S.C.-based Eye Health America partnered with Fort Myers, Fla.-based Quiqley Eye Specialists in February.
14. In January, Hauppauge, N.Y.-based Sight Growth Partners expanded its reach into Connecticut and New York by acquiring Doctor & Associates of Westport, Conn., and Samburksy Eye & Esthetics in Johnson City, N.Y.
15. In January, Optum, parent company of ASC chain SCA Health, agreed to acquire infusion network FlexCare Infusion, an ambulatory infusion network based in Oklahoma City. According to the company’s website, FlexCare has 30 clinic locations across Alabama, Arizona and Oklahoma.
