Wilmington, Del.-based ChristianaCare will acquire five outpatient centers from Upland, Pa.-based Crozer Health.
The five centers are all located in Pennsylvania — two facilities in Glen Mills, one in Havertown, one in Broomall and one in Media —,according to a May 28 news release. They were put up for auction after the planned closure of Crozer Health by parent company Prospect Medical Holdings.
Crozer shut down Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, Pa., on April 26, followed by the closure of Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland on May 2. The hospital closures and related facility shutdowns led to 2,651 layoffs.
“As we work to meet the needs of our Delaware County neighbors, we are glad that ChristianaCare is able to take on these outpatient centers and provide stability and continuity of access to care for patients,” ChristianaCare president and CEO Janice Nevin, MD, said in the release. “At the same time, by investing back into the communities we serve, we continue to expand the availability of convenient, high-quality care throughout the region.”
ChristianaCare won the auction for the centers with a $50.3 million bid. The sale is expected to close in the near future and awaits final court approval.
