Veterans finding healthcare aid in Pennsylvania nonprofits: 4 things to know

Pennsylvania nonprofits plan to use the state Medicaid expansion to bring healthcare to 20,000 uninsured veterans, according to Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Here are four things to know:

1. In April, the governor expanded coverage to 600,000 more residents under the Affordable Care Act.

2. Veterans Place held an Enroll America group registration that enrolled more than 50 veterans for healthcare in the past three months.

3. Many veterans’ VA benefits don’t cover all of their healthcare needs.

4. About 1.3 million veterans did not have health insurance in 2010, due to lack of government help.
