Here are five highlights:
1. The advertisement campaign calls for the next president to focus on lowering costs associated with chronic conditions, such as asthma, cancer, diabetes and heart disease.
2. The campaign further hopes to educate the pubic about the economic impact of chronic disease.
3. Working with hundreds of partners, the PFCD wants America to focus on prevention and the advancement of technology to provide for better health.
4. The Diabetes Prevention Program already helps people at risk make lifestyle changes to avoid developing the disease.
5. The Stanford Chronic Disease Self-Management Program helps those with chronic diseases stay healthy in other ways by exercising, taking medication and visiting physicians.
“The time is not for a productive discussion to focus on the true underlying cost drivers in our healthcare system,” said Ken Thorpe, chairman, PFCD. “Chronic diseases affect every American family…Without action, our economy will suffer measurably.”
