“We recently made an investment in spine equipment to support our physician partners in a surgical discipline with one of the highest expected reimbursement rates,” said Quantum International Income CEO Manu Sekhri.
Here are five key notes on the center:
1. The surgery center is a joint venture between Quantum International Income and New York City Surgical Associates.
2. Arien Smith, MD, director of neurological and spine surgery at New York City Surgical Associates has performed four spine surgeries at the ASC to date. He is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon.
3. The Centers for Special Surgery expects an additional revenue stream from the spine procedures — which traditionally reimburse well — to supplement the center’s revenues from the vein practice.
4. The Center for Special Surgery of Essex County is a 15,500-square-foot facility opened in 2014. The surgery center includes vascular surgery, gastroenterology, general surgery, pain management and orthopedics procedures in addition to spine.
5. The ASC has accreditation from the American Association of Accreditation for Ambulatory Surgical Facilities and includes five fully-equipped operating rooms.
