The University of Nebraska Medical Center Department of Anesthesiology has made three leadership transitions, according to a July 24 news release from UNMC.

Levi Zehr, MD, was appointed medical director of perioperative quality and process improvement. In the role, he will collaborate with Nebraska Medicine’s chief quality officer and surgical partners to improve the quality, safety and value of perioperative care in the department.

Dr. Zehr will also serve as the department’s quality champion for the multicenter perioperative outcomes group and co-chair the perioperative and procedural quality committee.

Kristin Wakin, MD, was named the section head of obstetric anesthesia, succeeding Charles Walcutt, MD.

Kristi Lorenzen, MD, will assume the role as director of the cath lab, taking over for Katie Goergen, MD, the cath lab’s outgoing director.

All three leadership changes were effective July 1, the release said.
