5 anesthesiologist lawsuits in 2023

Here are three lawsuits filed by or against anesthesiologists that Becker’s has reported on in 2023:

1. The U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland will retry anesthesiologist Anna Gabrielian, MD, a former employee of Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins, and her husband, Jamie Lee Henry, for their allegations of conspiring to help Russia by violating patient privacy. 

2. Former Escondido, Calif.-based anesthesiologist Leng Ky was sentenced to 17 years in prison for sexually assaulting patients while they were unconscious. 

3. Pediatric anesthesiologist James Mooney, MD, is suing Atlanta-based Emory University for alleged bias after he was demoted during a sexual harassment investigation. 

4. Cardiothoracic anesthesiologist Austin Harris, MD, has been charged for participating in the Capitol riot that occurred Jan. 6, 2021.

5. 3. A San Diego jury found the University of California San Diego Medical Center and former anesthesiologist Bradley Hay, MD, not guilty in a medical malpractice lawsuit filed by patient Randy Dalo and his wife, Karen Dalo, alleging that Mr. Dalo awakened during surgery due to insufficient amounts of anesthesia.
