Midwestern ASC market heats up

Here are five ASC developments and acquisitions in the Midwest, as reported by Becker’s since Aug. 2:

1. Cook County (Ill.) Health is planning a new ASC on the site of the former Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago.

2. SAAK Health cut the ribbon on a new ASC in Brookfield, Wis., that offers services including cardiology and urogynecology.

3. The Munson (Mich.) Healthcare Cadillac Hospital’s board of directors approved the development of two new joint venture ASCs in Cadillac and Gaylord, Mich.

4. The Upper Mississippi Surgery Center is in the works forJamestown, Wis.The project is led by 10 area surgeons from Dubuque (Iowa) Podiatry, Dubuque Surgery, Dubuque Orthopaedic Surgeons and Dubuque ENT Head & Neck Surgery.

5. Midland-based MyMichigan Health finalized the acquisition of several Michigan-based Ascension facilities, including a Saginaw-based ASC and a Tawas-based surgery center.
