The University of Michigan Board of Regents has approved the Nathan and Catherine Forbes Sports Medicine Institute project, a 100,000-square-foot facility.
The center will include an ASC and 34 exam rooms for services including orthopedic surgery, regenerative and biologic therapies, physical therapy and diagnostic imaging, according to an Oct. 15 news release from University of Michigan Health.
The institute will anchor University of Michigan Health’s sports medicine network. U-M Health and its regional health system currently perform more than 17,000 orthopaedic procedures at seven hospitals and 30 outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine clinics.
Construction of the center is set to be completed in fall 2028, the release said.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
