Five insights:
1. Digital GE Healthcare Avance CS2 machines were installed in each of the hospital’s surgical departments, replacing ones that had been in use for about 20 years. That’s typically as long as they last.
2. After raising $107,000 in 2019, hospital administrators scrapped plans to phase in the machines over a three-year period and instead opted to purchase all the machines at once.
3. The new machines include safety features such as continual air flows and offer more precise insights for high-risk patients.
4. The equipment is expected to be used to deliver more than 2,500 anesthetics annually.
5. Emporia Anesthesia Associates, a private group of certified registered nurse anesthetists, has provided services at Newman Regional Health since 1975.
