The Morgantown-based West Virginia University School of Nursing is increasing its Doctor of Nursing Practice Nurse Anesthetist program from 15 to 20 students in each cohort.
The full-time program, which requires 88 credits for completion, allows graduates to sit for the National Certification Exam. Individuals who pass the exam become certified registered nurse anesthetists, according to an Aug. 5 news release from the university.
The Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs granted approval of the expanded capacity.
In 2025, the COA granted the DNP Nurse Anesthetist program a 10-year accreditation, the release said.
