Abbott Completes $400M Acquisition of OptiMedica

Chicago-based Abbott has completed its $400 million buyout of OptiMedica, according to a Mass Device report.

Abbott reported paid $250 million up front and will cede another $150 million if several regulatory and sales milestones are met.

The acquisition brings femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery to Abbott Medical Optics’ ophthalmology unit.
