St. Louis-based EyeCare Partners entered into an agreement to sell its optometry business to Vienna, Va.-based MyEyeDr.

EyeCare Partners plans to put additional emphasis and resources on its ASC and ophthalmology businesses following the sale, and will use the proceeds to reduce debt, increase liquidity and strengthen its capital structure, according to a Sept. 28 news release from EyeCare Partners.

“We went to great lengths to find the ideal partner for our optometry business, with a commitment to clinical excellence and high-quality patient care being a key requirement. MyEyeDr. will build on the strength of the business and support its next phase of growth,” Chris Throckmorton, CEO of EyeCare Partners, said in the release.

MyEyeDr. will add more than 300 offices to its network with the acquisition. The company will use the additional locations to expand access to personalized care and increase its leadership position in clinical research.

“MyEyeDr. was founded 25 years ago to combine industry-leading optometric eye care with world-class products and convenient support services,” Sue Downes, co-founder and CEO of MyEyeDr., said in the release. “We have created a one-of-a-kind patient experience, a doctor-led service model that patients and communities trust and a scalable practice management platform that simplifies the insurance process.”

The sale is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
