Ophthalmologist Dr. Robert Sexton Dead at 90

Ophthalmologist Robert Ross Sexton, MD, has died, according to a Las Cruces Sun-News obituary.

Dr. Sexton died Oct. 26 in Silver City, N.M. He was 90.

 

Dr. Sexton received his MD from University of Illinois. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at University Hospitals in Iowa City.

 

He served as assistant professor in the department of ophthalmology at University of Miami Medical School, director of the ophthalmology residency training program at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and then became professor of ophthalmology in 1970. He resigned from this position in 1971, and then opened and practiced in his own ophthalmology office in Silver City for 30 years until he retired.
