Eleven physician practices changed hands in the past month alone.
This pace tracks with a broader shift in who owns U.S. medicine. Corporate entities, including insurers and PE-backed companies, employed 23% of physicians in 2024, up from 15% in 2019, and corporate ownership of practices (33.2%) has now overtaken hospital ownership (30.6%) for the first time, according to a September 2025 GAO report.
Here are the 11 deals:
1. Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health has acquired fellow Fort Myers provider Gardner Orthopedics, expanding its orthopedic and musculoskeletal care services across the region.
2. Austin, Texas-based Ouma Health has acquired a multisite maternal-fetal medicine practice led by Tamara Takoudes, MD, expanding the telemedicine company’s footprint across Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire.
3. Transform Health Partners, a management services organization, has acquired Northwest Weight & Wellness Center and Sound Surgeons, two bariatric and surgical practices based in Everett, Wash.
4. Dermatology Partners has acquired the practice of Elizabeth Spiers, MD, in Doylestown, Pa., establishing a second location in the county.
5. Golden Gate Urology has entered a partnership with Unio Specialty Care, a portfolio company of Triton Pacific Capital Partners.
6. Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Avera Health has acquired The Center for Neurosciences, Orthopaedics & Spine’s practice in Dakota Dunes, S.D., effective Jan. 1.
7. Health Catalyst Capital, a New York-based private equity firm, has acquired a Midwest-based psychiatric medical care practice serving elderly and disabled adults in long-term care facilities and hospitals.
8. Boca Raton, Fla.-based All Star Healthcare Solutions has acquired the locum tenens division of Cross Country Healthcare, combining two of the larger specialty physician staffing platforms in the country.
9. Nashville, Tenn.-based Amsurg has added five endoscopy centers in North Carolina to its network.
10. DermCare Management has acquired Fort Worth Plastic Surgery in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and physician-owned Wilmington Dermatology Center in Wilmington, N.C., expanding its national network to nearly 50 brands and almost 100 locations.
11. Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat Associates has acquired Piedmont Ear, Nose & Throat Associates, a Winston-Salem-based ENT group with five locations across the Triad region of North Carolina.
