Mississippi surgery center performs robotic partial knee replacement — 3 insights
Flowood, Miss.-based Capital Ortho clinicians performed a partial knee replacement using the Navio robotic system.
What you should know:
1. Center physician Edwin Jeff Kennedy, MD, said the Navio system allows surgeons to place implants in the most accurate positions.
2. The system also allows patients to avoid a preoperative CT scan. The surgeon can use the robot to collect anatomical data during a procedure that builds a 3D model of a patient's knee.
3. The surgery center believes it is the first freestanding facility in Mississippi to use the Navio device for a partial knee replacement.
