Three quick points:
1. OaraScore is designed to help surgeons, clinics and hospitals optimize patient selection for outpatient total joint arthroplasty programs. It’s the first risk-stratification tool designed specifically for TJA patients.
2. OaraScore utilizes a multidisciplinary algorithm that can precisely predict whether a patient could be discharged the day of surgery or the morning after surgery, according to an August 2017 study in The Journal of Arthroplasty. Michael Meneghini, director of the Indiana University Health Hip and Knee Center in Fishers, was the study’s lead author.
3. DJO’s tool can help transition TJA patients out of the inpatient setting, which is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic, when relatively healthy patients may want to avoid hospital stays, Dr. Meneghini said in a press release.
