8 hospitals, health systems investing in outpatient care

Here are eight hospitals and health systems that have announced new outpatient or ambulatory developments in the last 30 days, as reported by Becker’s:

1. Albany (N.Y.) Med Health System broke ground on an expansion at Greene Medical Arts in Catskill, N.Y., that will include a same-day surgery center. 

2. Bon Secours Mercy Health, Compass Surgical Partners and local physicians opened an orthopedic ASC in Newport News, Va. The three-way joint venture will feature four operating rooms and will offer total joint replacements, orthopedic procedures for the upper and lower extremities, as well as spine and pain management services.

3. New Orleans-based Ochsner Health opened a 100,000-square-foot outpatient facility in Lafayette, La. Ochsner Health Center – Bertrand represents a nearly $35 million investment by Ochsner Health. The renovated facility includes 75 exam rooms, 15 treatment rooms and four point-of-care testing rooms. Services provided at the center include internal medicine, orthopedics and sports medicine. 

4. NYU Langone Health opened an ambulatory practice in Commack, N.Y. The 18,000-square-foot center provides services including cardiology, orthopedics and urology.

5. St. Louis-based SSM Health is set to open a new outpatient campus in Sun Prairie, Wis. The 90,000-square-foot facility aims to expand access to eye care through outpatient eye and orthopedic surgical services

6. HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is investing $116 million to expand its campus in O’Fallon, Ill. Construction of a new outpatient surgery center, diagnostic imaging center and medical office building is underway.

7. Portland-based MaineHealth plans to invest $70 million to develop an orthopedic care hub that includes a surgery center. About $20 million will go towards a freestanding ASC, which will include two procedure rooms and 16 pre- and post-op bays. 

8. New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian opened NewYork-Presbyterian The One, an outpatient center in White Plains, N.Y. The 225,000-square-foot center will provide care across more than 90 specialties and subspecialities, including cardiovascular, ophthalmology, gastroenterology and orthopedics.
