The new commission members are:
- Martha Carte is Scott Depot, APRN, W.V.-based FamilyCare Health Centers CEO. She previously was a certified nurse-midwife for two decades.
- Frederick Cerise, MD, is Dallas-based Parkland Health’s president and CEO. He previously was in charge of Medicaid and other programs in Louisiana as the secretary of the health and hospitals department.
- Kisha Davis, MD, is a Gaithersburg, Md.-based Casey Health Institute family physician. She also is the Philadelphia-based Center for Applied Research program manager. Dr. Davis was the Casey Health Institute’s previous medical director and director of community health.
- Darin Gordon is the president and chief executive officer of Nashville, Tenn.-based Gordon & Associates. He provides healthcare consulting services to various clients. In a previous job, Mr. Gordon was the director of Tennessee’s Medicaid and CHIP programs.
- William Scanlon, PhD, is a La Jolla, Calif.-based West Health Institute consultant. Dr. Scanlon previously was with Washington, D.C.-based Georgetown University and the Washington, D.C.-based Urban Institute.
The new commission chair is:
- Penny Thompson is principal of Penny Thompson Consulting, LLC. She provides advice to clients on healthcare delivery and other related aspects. She previously held executive positions with CMS.
