Community honors former Kaiser Permanente ASC leader for working with military families: 4 key notes

A California town, Pleasanton, honored Pat Frizzell, RN, as "Woman of the Year" for her work with military families, according to The Independent.

Here are four key notes:

1. Ms. Frizzell has a personal connection the military. Her son joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Reserves in August 2001.

2. Her son's move motivated her to become involved with military families in the area. She told The Independent, "This was a huge change in my life, especially after Sept. 11, 2001, just one month later. When he deployed to Iraq in March 2003, at the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom, I found the Pleasanton Military Families support group, which was just beginning at that time."

3. Pleasanton Military Families has monthly-support meeting as well other services including care packages for deployed troops.

4. Ms. Frizzell worked at Kaiser Permanente in its Pleasanton ASC for 24 years before retiring in December 2016.
