New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Center elects Jeff Shanton president, 10 new officers and board members

The New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers elected four new officers and additional members to the board of directors.

NJAASC membership elected Jeff Shanton of Jersey City, N.J.-based Journal Square Surgical Center president and Meg Stagliano of Brick, N.J.-based Seashore Surgical Institute vice president. New officers also include Clifton (N.J.) Surgery Center's Michael Graziano, who will serve as treasurer, and Sharon Gelardi of The Gastro-Surgi Center of New Jersey in Mountainside who will serve as secretary.

The new members of the board of directors include:

• Caroline Ivansoki-Hauser of Bergen-Passaic Eye Surgery Center in Fair Lawn, N.J.
• Sarah Malaniak of Ambulatory Center for Endoscopy in North Bergen, N.J.
• Edmund Abramovitz-Fache of The Alexander Group Consultants
• Joan McKibben of Ambulatory Surgical Center of Somerset and Somerset Surgical Center in Somerville, N.J.
• Andrew Weiss of The Endo Center at Vorhees (N.J.)
• Bonnie Lavoie, RN, CNOR, of ASD Management
• Scott Bergman of Rothman Institute, based in Philadelphia

Mr. Shanton succeeds Mr. Weiss as president of the organization.

"The ambulatory surgery center industry continues to face tremendous change from both business and regulatory perspectives, and we look forward to helping our members better navigate these challenges through the unique educational and networking opportunities that NJAASC offers throughout the year, as well as through our representation in Trenton and our all-important relationships with governing agencies."
