Dr. Corona is also the vice president of innovation and business development and he oversees the CNY Biotech Accelerator. The qualities Dr. Corona laid out for good leadership include:
1. Flexibility and adaptability.
2. Humility to take less credit when good things happen and assume responsibility when bad things happen.
3. Imagination to find multiple solutions to a problem.
4. Don’t be afraid to make decisions that could irritate others if you need to solve a problem.
5. Emotional intelligence to get buy-in from others.
“In tough times, if you don’t maintain the investment in people, you’re not going to get any better,” he said in the interview. “If you persist and focus and are resilient about keeping your people strong and happy and morale high, you’ll make it through tough times.”
He also outlined qualities of poor leadership:
1. Lack of humility.
2. Protecting the status quo.
3. Anger and revengeful nature.
4. Poor decision making because of anger.
5. Indecisiveness.
