The procedure was performed by assistant professor of medicine in the division of gastroenterology at UMass Chan, Neil Marya, MD, who was assisted by his GI team, according to an April 22 press release.

The stent system, created by Boston Scientific, is the only biliary metal stent in the U.S. that lasts up to 12 months in the treatment of benign biliary strictures secondary to chronic pancreatitis.
