Iowa City-based University of Iowa Health Care gastroenterologists have performed the first U.S. procedure using Archimedes, a newly FDA-approved biodegradable pancreatic stent.

The stent, used during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, helps treat patients with pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer and related conditions.
