Here’s what you need to know:

1. The WavSTAT device uses light to scan tissue, providing physicians with immediate analysis. This analysis detects and diagnoses cancers by determining whether the tissue is normal, pre-cancerous or cancerous.

2. Since WavSTAT analysis is done without removing any tissue from the body, it avoids the cost of traditional pathology and polypectomies.

3. A clinician does not need to alter the colonoscopy procedure to use WavSTAT. Additionally, the device requires little training.

4. WavSTAT has exceeded the clinical guidelines adopted by medical societies in the United States, according to a SpectraScience news release.
