Olympus will serve as the exclusive distributor of surgical instrument developer Ruhof Healthcare's Guardian Endoscope Single-use Valve set through a recently announced partnership.
Here's what you should know:
1. Ruhof manufactured the Guardian Endoscope set. The single-use set eliminates the need for manual cleaning.
2. The Guardian set can be used with Olympus 140/160/180/190 series endoscopes.
3. The companies said the partnership will help create consistent practices while also reducing possible errors and healthcare-associated infections.

Olympus America Group Vice President of the Endoscopy Division Kurt Heine said in a release, "The addition of this innovative solution to our EndoTherapy portfolio allows us to further our commitment to patient safety by eliminating the need for reusable valves.
