Using an external console, the surgeon directs the robot to perform intricate surgical procedures in the stomach, such as removal of a tumor embedded in the stomach wall, without puncturing the wall.
In addition to leaving no scars, the robot reduces operating time and is significantly cheaper than normal stomach surgery. The device was developed by researchers in Singapore.
