Logan Regional Hospital in Utah Using Hi-Def Endoscopy Technology to Enhance Diagnoses

High-definition endoscopes and a new video processing system are helping gastroenterologists get a more accurate view during colonoscopies and upper-endoscopy procedures at Utah’s Logan Regional Hospital, according to an article in the Cache Valley Daily.

The new HD technology provides clearer views of anatomical structures and fine capillaries and allows for more accurate diagnoses, according to physicians who use the system at the hospital.

The scopes, manufactured by Olympus, also bring narrow band imaging technology to gastrointestinal examinations, altering the white light source emitted by the scope to a blush light, which improves visual contrast for the physician.
