Invendo receives CE Mark for sterile, single-use endoscope: 5 things you need to know

Garden City, N.Y.-based invendo medical received a CE Mark for its invendoscope SC200 which it’s marketing as the world’s first sterile, single-use colonoscope.

Here’s what you need to know.

1. CEO Timo Hercegfi said the scope avoids challenges related to the cleaning and disinfecting of traditional endoscopes.

2. The SC200 is part of the invendoscopy E200 System.

3. Traditional endoscopes account for “more healthcare-associated infection outbreaks … than any other medical device.”

4. The invendoscope SC200 is ergonomically designed and robotically assisted.

5. The scope received FDA 510(k) clearance earlier in 2016. Invendo expects to introduce the product to market in 2017.
