Joliet, Ill.-based Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center's Kamran Ayub, MD, performed a procedure with the EndoRotor, becoming the first in Illinois to do so, the Herald News reports.
Here's what you should know:
1. EndoRotor was designed for minimally invasive endoscopic procedures.
2. EndoRotor is used for stomach and small intestine procedures as an alternative to surgery.
3. Endoscopists can use EndoRotor to address unsuccessful or incomplete premalignant or malignant lesions through the gastrointestinal tract.
4. Dr. Ayub is the Illinois Endoscopy Society's president.
