Survey results were reported at ACG 2020, Oct. 23-28. Ambu surveyed 70 gastroenterologists who performed ERCP on their willingness to use single-use scopes instead of reusable ones.

GIs said they’d convert to a single-use scope for 50 percent of their ERCP procedures. Fifty-four percent of GIs who owned all their duodenoscopes and 43 percent of GIs who leased their duodenoscopes said they’d consider a single-use device. Fifty-four percent of GIs who had a duodenoscope contamination rate above 10 percent also said they’d convert to a single-use duodenoscope.

Cost transparency was the biggest issue GIs considered when debating single-use scopes.
