Dr. Deal has served on the Quality in Endoscopy Task Force of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and American College of Gastroenterology. He is also a former member of ACG’s National Affairs Committee and Practice Management Committee. He has also served on the developmental board of the ERCP Quality Network.
Dr. Deal’s clinical interests include adult gastroenterology as well as pancreatic and biliary disease. He also teaches how to perform ERCP. He has taught internationally in Antigua, Australia, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Netherlands, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
Dr. Deal earned his medical degree at University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. He completed his residency at New University of North Carolina Hospitals. Additionally, he has completed two fellowships in gastroenterology and pancreatic biliary tract diseases at Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
